Harvest used to be a big name in time tracking, but it hasn't kept up with the times in terms of user experience. It's clunky and confusing to use. It's no wonder these fresh-faced competitors have stolen their thunder.

Of course, looks aren’t everything, but Harvest could do with a new look and feel to make it more sleek and modern and to make it more user-friendly and easier to set up - it requires time to set up and to do it well it requires a thoughtful plan to provide the necessary classification and categorisation of clients / projects / tasks / billing to be used across the organization.
Lack of Reports
Harvest's reporting game is seriously lacking. Here’s the extent of their offering:
They're missing out on basic reports that you would expect from a timesheet software - reports that show you team member utilization rates, who's working on what, for how long and how many hours they have left to take on new projects each week. And don't even get me started on the lack of billable vs cost reports for both projects and team members.
Currency Limitations
Harvest does not have the ability to manage costs in multiple currencies. The cost rates will be set in the currency default of the account user. Any adjustments for currency conversions will need to be manually calculated and entered into Harvest.
No Audit Log
Changes to the team member rates? Or task rates? When did they change? Reassignment of a team member to another project? When was that exactly and who made the change? Again, a pretty basic feature for a timesheet app that Harvest don't offer.
